Single line text
The Single Line Text option type allows customers to enter a brief, single-line text input. This option type is ideal for collecting short, personalized information from customers, such as a name, initials, or a short message. It provides a simple text field where users can type their input, and is commonly used for customization options or additional details that don't require multiple lines of text.
Basic option settings
1. Option name
This is the internal label used to identify the Single Line Text option within the app's settings. It helps organize and manage options but does not appear on the storefront product page.
2. Label on product
This is the text displayed above the Single Line Text input field on the product page of your storefront. It provides a prompt or description to guide customers on what to enter, such as "Enter Your Name" or "Add a Custom Message."
3. Label on cart
This is the text that appears on the Cart summary screen, Checkout, and Order detail page, next to the customer’s input. It shows the specific text the customer has entered, helping to review or confirm their customization.
4. Add-on product
This allows you apply an extra charge when customers enter text into the field. You can set it up so that any text input by the customer automatically adds a specific amount to the product’s price. This feature makes it easy to charge for custom text entries, like personalization or custom messages.
5. Conditional logic
This allows you to set rules that determine when the Single Line Text field should be shown or hidden based on other options selected by the customer. For example, you could configure the text field to appear only if a customer selects a certain product customization option.
Advanced option settings
1. Required filed
This setting determines whether the text field must be filled out by the customer before they can proceed with their purchase. If enabled, customers will be required to enter text; otherwise, they can leave it blank.
2. Hide "Label on product"
This setting allows you to hide the label text that normally appears above the Single Line Text field on the product page. It’s useful if you want to keep the interface clean or if the label is not necessary for the customer to see.
3. Min/ Max character
These settings define the minimum and maximum number of characters that customers can enter into the Single Line Text field.
For example, you can set a minimum of 5 characters and a maximum of 50 characters to ensure that entries meet specific requirements.
4. Input type
This setting specifies the format of the text input field, such as whether it should accept plain text or numbers. It helps control the type of content customers can enter.
5. Default value
This is the pre-filled text that appears in the Single Line Text field by default. It can be used to provide an example or prompt for customers, which they can then edit or replace.
6. Text transform
This setting controls how the text entered by customers is displayed, such as converting it to uppercase, lowercase, or capitalizing the first letter of each word. It ensures the text appears consistently according to your preferences.
7. Tooltip
This setting allows you to provide additional information in a pop-up message when the customer hovers over the information icon. It provides brief, contextual information without cluttering the interface.
8. Help Text
This setting displays directly beneath the Text option, offering more detailed explanations or instructions. It remains visible as users interact with the form, providing ongoing support and clarity.
9. Placeholder text
This is the greyed-out text that appears within the Single Line Text field before the customer enters any information. It provides an example or hint about what should be entered, such as "Enter your name."
10. Class name
This setting allows you to assign a custom CSS class to the Single Line Text field. It helps in applying specific styles or behaviors to the text field based on your design requirements.
